Obituary - Ralston James Hogge

Ralston (Rollie) James Hogge, 89, of Riverton, Utah, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, at Grove Creek Assisted Living Center. Rollie was born on April 12, 1935, in Preston, Idaho, to Ronald and Faung Hogge. He graduated from Logan High School and later earned a master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Utah.

Rollie enjoyed a successful career as a professional engineer, contributing to numerous projects across Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and California. His work was not only a source of pride but a reflection of his dedication to excellence and service.

In 1955, Rollie married the love of his life, Joan Bevan, in Idaho Falls. Their 69-year marriage was built on love, respect, and unwavering faith. Shortly after their wedding, Rollie served a full-time mission in England, and Joan joined him for the final months of his mission. Together, they raised three children, creating a home filled with laughter, love, and faith.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rollie served in many leadership positions, including as Branch President, Bishop, and Patriarch. His faith guided his every decision and touched the lives of many. Rollie was also proud to serve in the U.S. Army and Reserves from 1964 to 1972, achieving the rank of Captain. His military service took him to Fort Benning, GA, Fort Devons, MA, and Two Rock Ranch Station, CA.

In his personal life, Rollie was an avid skier-both on snow and water-and enjoyed playing tennis with his family and friends. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family, and he always found joy in helping others.

Rollie is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; his children: Sue Weeks Ruff (Wesley), Paul Hogge (Becky); and his ten cherished grandchildren: Michael, Jessica, Missy, Natalie, Erin, Joshua, Garrett, Hailly, Katelyn, and Allyssa. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Steensma, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, David Hogge (Jineena).

A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45am followed by a celebration of Rollie's life on December 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the LDS Chapel, 1208 West 12400 South, Riverton, Utah. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring Rollie's life of love, service, and faith.

Rollie's legacy of kindness, faith, and devotion will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to caregivers Anna and Andrew for their tireless support and dedication during this difficult time.
