Obituary - Earl Gene Neiswinger

Earl Gene Neiswinger, 83, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday February 14, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 18, 1942 in Terre Haute to Keith and Ruth (Hartley) Neiswinger.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy (Lamb) Neiswinger; daughter, Tona Bean (Bruce); son, Todd Neiswinger (Ceneta); sister, Sarah Dye (Terry); brother, Carl Neiswinger (Mary); sister-in-law Letha Neiswinger; grandchildren, Eli (Quinn), Emilee, Jacob (Kristi), Daylon (Maddie), and Seth; great-grandchildren Benjamin, Maria, and Theo and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Neiswinger.

Earl retired from Ivy Hill. He was a US Army veteran with the 1st Armored Division and loved to show his patriotism. He also enjoyed going bowling and fishing.

Visitation will be Wednesday February 25, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Samaritan Funeral Home with funeral services starting at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Bennett officiating. Rosemary Cunningham, 100, of Mooresville, Indiana passed away December 21, 2021. She was born August 14, 1921 in Clay County, Indiana to the late Samuel and Bessie (Smith) Neiswinger. Rosemary worked for Schmidt’s Optical for 19 years, and after that she worked at the Indianapolis International Airport for Aunt Annie’s for many years. She was a member of Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene. Rosemary loved quilting and in fact displayed some of her quilts at the Indiana State Fair, where she was awarded a ribbon, enjoyed crocheting, handicrafts of all kind and enjoyed spending time with the family.

She was dearly loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving daughters, Linda (Bill) Eckert, Brenda (Mike) Conder, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel Cunningham and her son, Jerry Cunningham. There will be a Graveside Service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City, Indiana at a 12:00 pm Friday, December 31, 2021.

Obituary - Bennie Lee Neiswinger

Bennie Lee Neiswinger, 88, of Indianapolis passed away on August 19, 2020 at his residence. Bennie was born on June 28, 1932 in Clay City, IN to Samuel C. and Bessie I. (Smith) Neiswinger. He was a graduate of Patricksburg High School, and married Anna Jane Oberholtzer.

Bennie was a chemist for Chrysler for over thirty years. After his retirement, he began driving a school bus: first for Wayne Township Schools and then the Perry Townships Schools. Also in his retirement, Bennie found the time to begin the J.B. Vending Company. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Masonic Lodge No. and Murat Shrine. Bennie loved bowling and watching IU basketball.

Bennie is survived by his daughters: Karen Maines, Wanda Edwards and Julia (Leonard) Bailey; grandchildren: Anna Lee Murphy and Emily Kay Dugger; two great grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Cunningham. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife and siblings: Gene, Keith, James and Romaine.

Funeral services for Bennie will be held on Tuesday August 25, 2020 at 1:00 PM in Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions 925 East Hanna Avenue Indianapolis. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the services Tuesday.

Obituary - Samuel Clayton Neiswinger

Samuel C. Neiswinger

CLAY CITY, Ind. (Special) - Samuel C. Neiswinger, 81, 258 Beem St., Spencer, Ind., formerly of Clay City, died at 7 p.m. Saturday in Hendricks County Hospital, Danville, Ind.

Surviving are the widow, Bessie I.; two daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Cunningham and Miss Romaine Neiswinger, both of Indianapolis; four sons, Gene, Orlando, Fla.; Keith, Terre Haute; James and Bennie, both of Indianapolis; five sisters, Mrs. Dora Leohr, Mrs. Mary White and Mrs. Florence Schlegle, all of Clay City; Mrs. Ellen Young, Patricksburg, Ind., and Mrs. Irene Persinger, Saline City, Ind., a brother, Edward, Clay City; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Arthur officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
