Linda Louise Hickman, 85, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 24, 2024, at UnityPoint Allen Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born April 1, 1939, in Oelwein, daughter of Clyde and Fern (Bruil) Cahill. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1957.
She was an active member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and volunteered on many committees over the years. She had a strong faith which she passed on to her children and grandchild.
Linda was an excellent cook. Her greatest joy came from caring for and being with her family. She loved playing Scrabble, Wordle, and Yahtzee. She was up for any board game and her Pictionary drawings are legendary. She was the world's best wife, mom, and Nana. Linda was always positive. In her final days she encouraged her family to keep smiling and to be happy, another example of her always putting her family first.
Linda is survived by her husband, Larry Hickman of Waterloo, her daughter, Pamela Hickman of Waterloo, her son Tom (Mary) Hickman of Topeka, KS, her granddaughter Emma Kate Hickman of Waterloo; and brother-in-law, Joseph Jarvis. Linda's beloved sister, Susan Jarvis died one day after Linda passed.
