Obituary - Howard Edgar Pearson

Howard Edgar Pearson, 78, of Oak Hill, WV, died on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at his home. Born September 3, 1937 at Georgetown, IL, he was the son of the late Dean and Irene Jackson Pearson.

Howard was a CPA. He was retired as assistant secretary/treasurer for New River Company and had been a regional manager for the North Carolina ABC. He was instrumental in the development of the Fayetteville Little League.

A sister, Esther Hires preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Constance A. Canterbury Pearson; one daughter, Kelly Elaine Pearson of Oak Hill; son, Kyle Dwaine Pearson of Glenwood; two stepchildren, Steven Humphrey of Capon Bridge and Barbara Humphrey of Staunton, VA; one sister, Phyllis Taylor of Springfield, IL; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope, with Rev. Mitch "Skee" Barley officiating. Burial will be at Humphrey Cemetery, School House Hill Road in Pax. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Obituary - Constance Ann Canterbury

Obituary for Constance Canterbury Pearson

Constance Ann Canterbury Pearson, 87, of Oak Hill, WV passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

Born May 20, 1932, at Pax, WV, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Barbara Ann Humphrey Canterbury.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Edgar Pearson (March 6, 2016); daughter, Barbara Humphrey Simmons; and sisters, Janice Meredith and Mitizi Cimino.

Surviving are her children, Kelly Pearson, Kyle Pearson and Steven Humphrey; sisters, Judy Barley and Pat Shaffer; brother, George Canterbury; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Obituary - Bennie Lee Neiswinger

Bennie Lee Neiswinger, 88, of Indianapolis passed away on August 19, 2020 at his residence. Bennie was born on June 28, 1932 in Clay City, IN to Samuel C. and Bessie I. (Smith) Neiswinger. He was a graduate of Patricksburg High School, and married Anna Jane Oberholtzer.

Bennie was a chemist for Chrysler for over thirty years. After his retirement, he began driving a school bus: first for Wayne Township Schools and then the Perry Townships Schools. Also in his retirement, Bennie found the time to begin the J.B. Vending Company. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Masonic Lodge No. and Murat Shrine. Bennie loved bowling and watching IU basketball.

Bennie is survived by his daughters: Karen Maines, Wanda Edwards and Julia (Leonard) Bailey; grandchildren: Anna Lee Murphy and Emily Kay Dugger; two great grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Cunningham. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife and siblings: Gene, Keith, James and Romaine.

Funeral services for Bennie will be held on Tuesday August 25, 2020 at 1:00 PM in Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions 925 East Hanna Avenue Indianapolis. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the services Tuesday.

Obituary - Samuel Clayton Neiswinger

CLAY CITY, Ind. (Special) - Samuel C. Neiswinger, 81, 258 Beem St., Spencer, Ind., formerly of Clay City, died at 7 p.m. Saturday in Hendricks County Hospital, Danville, Ind.

Surviving are the widow, Bessie I.; two daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Cunningham and Miss Romaine Neiswinger, both of Indianapolis; four sons, Gene, Orlando, Fla.; Keith, Terre Haute; James and Bennie, both of Indianapolis; five sisters, Mrs. Dora Leohr, Mrs. Mary White and Mrs. Florence Schlegle, all of Clay City; Mrs. Ellen Young, Patricksburg, Ind., and Mrs. Irene Persinger, Saline City, Ind., a brother, Edward, Clay City; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Arthur officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Obituary - Sandra Sue Geiger

Indianapolis - Sandra Sue Geiger, 75, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018.

Ms. Geiger was born Tuesday, October, 20 1942, in Kokomo, IN to the late Paul and Elizabeth Rentschler. On 16 April 1957, she married Marion James Geiger. Ms. Geiger was a very hard worker and over the course of her life, she served in multiple capacities. She served in leasing management for Retirement Housing Foundation. She was previously employed by Walt Disney World. She also served as switchboard operator and as a caregiver for both children and adults as a nurses’ aide.

Ms. Geiger was an avid reader. She loved her front porch and waving at her neighbors. She was a member of the Assembly of God church and loved visiting people and sharing her faith. She also enjoyed exploring and hiking in national forests and parks.

Ms. Geiger was preceded in death by her husband, Marion James Geiger; brother, Rev. Loren Emerson Rentschler; sister, Enola Jean Gardner Crist; and nephews, Ron E. Maddox and Anthony W. Maddox. She is survived by her only child, Dee Victoria "Vicki" Geiger; step-sons, Eric and Bart; brother, Don Richard Rentschler and his wife, Peggy; sisters, Velera L. Hanna and Carol L. Moore; sister-in-law, Diane Rentschler; and grandsons, DiAngilo and Mark Bryant.

Ms. Geiger's family will receive friends Wednesday, June 13, 2018, from 11 am - 12 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of her life will follow at 12 pm. A committal service will be conducted at 2 pm at Maplewood Cemetery, 200 College Drive, Anderson, IN 46012.

Obituary - Betty May Hostetler Trinkle

Betty M. Trinkle, 101, of Linton, IN, entered Heaven’s gate on Saturday, June 22, 2019. She was born on May 27, 1918, in Clay City, IN, to James R. and Mary A. (Smith) Hostetler. On April 16, 1938, Betty married Orlan A. Trinkle, who preceded in death October 15, 1966.

Betty was a homemaker for many years and, also, worked in the cafeteria at the school and the hospital. She was a member of the Linton First Baptist Church and the Linton Ladies Civitan Club. Betty enjoyed traveling, painting, and working puzzles in her leisure time. Family members were her pride and joy.

Family left to cherish Betty’s memory includes: a daughter, Mira (Daniel) Bowersock of Linton; a daughter-in-law, Judi Trinkle of Linton; Grandchildren: Hannah Mackenzie, Kathy (Morgan) Buck, Sarah (Darren) Denham, Kristy (William) Angleton, Amy (Ricky) Templeton; Great-Grandchildren: Lennie Wheeler, Eddie Mullis, Willow and Vivian Angleton, Abby and Tanner Denham, Bria Stewart, and Parker, Trevor, and Tucker John Templeton; and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orlan Trinkle, one son, Johnie Trinkle, an infant son, Larry Trinkle, and an infant grandson, Bret Joseph Trinkle.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. Kenneth Adams officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in the Linton Fairview Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday.

Memorial donations may be made to Gideon Bibles in Betty’s name. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Obituary - Lorene Lydia Thomas Wolf

Lorene Lydia Wolf, 91, passed away at 7:20 pm, January 19, 2009.

She was born in Owen Co September 4, 1917 to Peter and Myrtle Smith Thomas.

On November 26, 1942 she married Robert Mitchell Wolf.

Lorene taught for 33 years at Patricksburg, Clay City, and Coal City Elementary Schools. She attended First United Church of Christ and taught Bible School and Sunday School.

She is preceded by her parents Peter and Myrtle Thomas; husband Robert Wolf and son Tom Wolf.

She is survived by her daughter Sue Crafton and husband Chris, Greencastle, IN ; grandsons Kit Crafton and wife Adrielle and Kevin Crafton and fiancé Ashely Browning; grandchildren Traver Wolf and wife Paige, Tara Secrest and husband Joe and great grandchildren Elyssa Secrest and Noah Crafton; daughter in law Beth Wolf.

Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral home Saturday January 24, 2009 at 4:00pm with Pastor Julie Western officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 2pm until time of services.

James Howard Pence - Vietnam Memorial, Washington D.C.

While in Washington D.C. this week I was able to visit the Vietnam Memorial and found James Howard Pence on the wall. He died December 28, 1969 in Quang Nam, Vietnam.
